iPhone Apps vorgestellt: MagicMaps Scout

Aus dem Hause MagicMaps stammt die erst kürzlich veröffentlichte Software MagicMaps Scout für iPhone. Schon beim ersten Aufruf zeigt sich die professionelle Umsetzung, wie man es aus dem Hause MagicMaps gewohnt ist. Die grafische Gestaltung und die Benutzerführung sind vorbildlich!

MagicMaps Scout für iPhone bietet einen Fahrradcomputer mit Streckenaufzeichnung. Eine interaktive Kartenansicht mit weltweitem Openstreetmap-Kartenmaterial kann um topografische Detailkarten für alle Regionen in Deutschland, Luxemburg und Österreich sowie den Nationalparks in den USA ergänzt werden. Bei den topografischen Karten handelt es sich um die gleiche hochwertige Kartenbasis, die auch beim bekannten MagicMaps TourExplorer Verwendung findet. Ein Import von Karten aus dem TourExplorer ist derzeit noch nicht möglich. Ausschnitte der topografischen Karten können direkt innerhalb der Applikation über den integrierten Map Store zu einem Preis von jeweils 3,99 € erworben werden. Deutschland ist dabei in 119 Gebiete unterteilt. Eine Übersicht kann hier als PDF abgerufen werden. Erworbene topografische Karten werden auch offline, d.h. ohne Mobilfunkverbindung in der Applikation angezeigt.

Über den Menüpunkt "Karte" werden wahlweise Openstreetmap-Karten angezeigt oder kostenpflichtige Topokarten.Die Tacho-Anzeige bietet sechs Werte, die individuell konfigrurierbar sind.

Mit "Stop" kann eine Aufzeichnung pausiert werden. Die beiden dann zur Verfügung stehenden Optionen sind selbsterklärend.Nach Beenden der Aufzeichung kann man die Tour benennen und erhält einen Überblick der Streckendaten.

Zur Tour können Höhen- und Geschwindigkeitsprofil angezeigt werden.Die Touren sind mit einem kleinen Thumbnail übersichtlich aufgelistet. Weitere Infos zur Tour sind abrufbar.

Die Einstellungen sind ebenso übersichtlich....... wie die Auswahl der anzuzeigenden Karte.


Das Hauptmenü von Scout besteht aus den Punkten "Karte", "Tacho", "Touren" und "Einstellungen". Die Kartenansicht beinhaltet eine sehr fixe Adresssuche. Die Tachoseite bietet sechs Datenfelder, die durch Antippen aus 13 unterschiedlichen Werten individuell konfiguriert werden können. Über einen "Start"-Knopf startet man die Aufzeichnung einer Tour. Unter dem Menüpunkt "Touren" findet man, wie schon vermutet, eine Auflistung der aufgezeichneten oder importierten Touren. Der Import von Touren im GPX-Format ist über iTunes komfortabel möglich. Wählt man eine Tour aus, so werden einige statistische Daten (Länge, Fahrzeit, Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit, Höchster Punkt, Tiefster Punkt) angezeigt. Darüber besteht die Möglichkeit die Tour als E-Mail zu versenden, ein Geschwindigkeits- und Höhenprofil sowie auf der Karte anzuzeigen. Wird die Tour als Hintergrundpfad auf der Karte angezeigt, kann diese zur Navigation genutzt werden. Eine aktive Navigation mit Entfernungs- und Richtungsanweisungen ist jedoch nicht möglich. Die Einstellungen sind unterteilt in "Karte" und "Allgemein". Unter "Karte" kann der Nutzer die anzuzeigende Karte auswählen. Dabei stehen sehr übersichtlich vier verschiedene Openstreetmap-Varianten zur Verfügung sowie gegebenenfalls die Auswahl "Topographisch". Dazu werden die installierten Regionen der topografischen Karte angezeigt. Über die Auswahl "Karte kaufen" wird der Map Store aufgerufen. Im Bereich "Allgemein" kann das Maßsystem (Metrisch, US), die Aufzeichnungshäufigkeit (Optimiert, Zeit, Entfernung) sowie der Bildschirmschoner definiert werden.

Fazit:
MagicMaps Scout macht einen professionellen, sehr aufgeräumten Eindruck. Es ist sowohl für Einsteiger als auch für Fortgeschrittene geeignet. Gespannt sind wir auf die weitere Entwicklung von Scout. Sollten die Entwickler von MagicMaps weitere Funktionalitäten wie eine aktive Navigation, eine Ausrichtung der Karte in Fahrtrichtung sowie Auswertungs- und Community-Features nachrüsten, wird die Scout App auch unter Navigations-Experten viele Freunde finden. Selten war die Bedienung einer Navigationssoftware so selbsterklärend und einfach. Daher erhält MagicMaps Scout eine klare Kaufempfehlung für die Rubrik "Outdoor-Navigation".
